Get set like Paula Radcliffe with the runDisney Half Marathon 2017

Published on April 4, 2017

On your marks… get set for the second edition of the Disneyland® Paris – Val d’Europe Half-Marathon Weekend, which will take place from 21st–24th September 2017. There will be plenty of new features for even more fun!

Following the great success of the first edition in 2016 and to mark the 25th Anniversary of Disneyland Paris, discover a varied programme of events guaranteeing four days of fun and sport.

The Half-Marathon Weekend at Disneyland Paris in Val d’Europe is fast approaching.

British athlete and ladies marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe and Michäel Jérémiasz, flag-bearer for the French team at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, will be acting as ambassadors – joining the thousands of runners participating in this thrilling event in the Disney® Parks, from September 21st to 24th, 2017

This incredible event will take place at Disneyland Paris and will include a mix of races for both adults and children. The weekend will be organized with the support of runDisney and its successful 21 years’ experience in staging running events at US Disney theme parks.

The new three-day race weekend will involve kids races of 100m 200m and 1k, a 5K family race, a 10k race,  a half marathon, plus several family fun experiences such as a Health and Fitness Expo and a Friday night private party.

The Half Marathon will lead participants through Disneyland Paris and its surrounding countryside villages, making for a storybook run straight out of a fairy tale. Amazing courses, special events, family and kids’ races, a fun-filled celebration at the finish line and everyone’s beloved Disney characters cheering along the course will create a weekend of unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.

This is the second year for Paula – she brought her family along, children too – to her first event in 2016. With Michaël as ambassador alongside Paula, Disneyland Paris reminds its sports and accessibility’s commitments.

More than just a race, runDisney is an experience – where emotions and sharing are more important than performance. Paula Radcliffe and Michaël Jérémiasz – both parents of young children – embody the values that are dear to runDisney: enjoying sport as a family, finding a sense of well-being in sports activity and the inclusion of everyone, regardless of age and ability.

Michaël Jérémiasz – sport is bigger than disability

  • Born in 1981, Michaël played tennis from the age of 5 and becomes N°. 1 in singles and doubles in 2005.
  • Men’s tennis doubles champion at the Paralympics in Beijing in 2008 – in between winning silver and bronze in Athens in 2004 and coming 3rd in London in 2012.
  • Flag-bearer for the French team at the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016, after which he retired from his sporting career

Paula Radcliffe – family sport

  • Born in 1973, Paula became a marathon specialist in 2002
  • She became ladies marathon world champion with a time of 2 hours, 15 minutes and 25 seconds at the London Marathon in 2003, and then world champion in Helsinki in 2005
  • After the birth of her first child in 2007, she took up running again, winning the New York Marathon in 2007 and 2008
