Last Thursday, Studio D Theater at Walt Disney Studios Park transformed into a true discovery stage for Cast Members, who had the chance to explore the passion and expertise of the Lighting Department teams. The activation represented a unique opportunity to dive behind the scenes with those who illuminate every show and event across the resort!

Interactive and Fun Workshops
Throughout the day, Cast Members were invited to explore the art of lighting through various workshops. From meeting the event teams to participating in an interactive simulation of a projection on Sleeping Beauty Castle, no detail was left in the dark during this open house.
Specially organized workshops provided insightful explanations: participants got to discover the lighting consoles used for shows like Mickey and the Magician and Disney Tales of Magic. It was a chance to appreciate the scale of work carried out by lighting designers and operators, who carefully imagine and program every effect. It’s a long process — programming the lights for Mickey and the Magician takes no less than a full month!

To top it all off, the teams even prepared an exclusive mini show on the Studio D stage, showcasing how lighting can transform an atmosphere and evoke unforgettable emotions.
Did You Know?
A lighting technician, also known as a “pupitreur” in French, is present at every performance. From the control booth, they ensure the smooth execution of the lighting design. Behind every show, a whole team collaborates, between show directors and sound, video, and SFX technicians to make the magic shine.
Thanks to these hands-on workshops, everyone had the chance to step into the shoes of lighting technicians and discover just how essential their work is in enhancing the performances of Disneyland Paris artists and Characters. While performers shine on stage thanks to their talent, it’s the Lighting Department that makes them even brighter!
