Energy and water savings at Disneyland Paris

Reducing our environmental footprint is a priority at Disneyland Paris, both in guest-facing areas and behind-the-scenes.

As part of our continued actions launched several years ago, the resort is pursuing its efforts to reduce water and energy consumption.

incremental measures aiming to reduce our consumption

Heating is adjusted to 19°C in winter and air conditioning to 26°C in summer in closed areas accessible to guests and Cast Members*. The temperature is also decreased in unoccupied backstage areas during weekends and at night.

* all indoor attractions, theaters, restaurants, bars, shops, Hotels lobbies and corridors, backstage buildings.

Showerheads are gradually being replaced with more water-efficient models.

The Horticulture teams practice sustainable irrigation. Thanks to an innovative sensor system, the plants receive the amount of water they need, avoiding excessive water consumption. The irrigation system is connected to the wastewater treatment plant, which supplies it with recycled water.

210.000m3 of potable water were saved in the Parks between 2023 and 2025 thanks to a new flushing system.

Swimming pools and ambient air temperatures lowered by 1 degree.

The hotel’s unused soaps are recycled to make new bars of soap that are distributed to disadvantaged families in France.

Our projects for the environment

The resort is adopting an overall mitigation strategy which includes: energy and water saving efforts, efficiency with improvements to existing facilities to optimise energy performance and water resources, and major projects to promote renewable energies.

Our solar canopy plant (80 000 pannels) produces 36 GWh/year - equivalent to the average household energy consumption of 17.400 inhabitants.

It also helps reducing of 890 tons of CO2 per year the greenhouse gas emissions over the Val d'Europe territory.

Disneyland Paris was the first theme park in Europe to equip itself with its own wastewater treatment plant in 2013.

This water is then used to clean the roads and irrigate the flowerbeds.

18% of heating and domestic hot water needs for both Disney Parks and Disneyland Hotel is supplied each year by geothermal energy.

The set up of a thermorefrigerating-pump allows us to reduce our natural gas consumption by 14%.

It also makes it possible to reduce the consumption of recycled water provided by our wastewater treatment plant by approximately 30,000 cubic meters.

We are also committed to raise awareness among our guests, Cast Members and local communities.
